Vox Hunt: My Favorite Artist

I have always liked Maxfield Parrish. I love the series he does with girls in robes looking up at a blue sky. My favorite works of his involve his country scenes, though. I love how he works with reflections in the waters. Most of his landscapes look like they were painted at twilight, which is my favorite time of day in the summer. Whenever I see one of his twilight paintings, it make me think balmy summer evenings with nothing to do and nowhere to go...the very essence of summer vacation.
I also like Salvadore Dali. For the record, a lot of his paintings frighten me. I suppose that is what great art is...it evokes a response. My college roomate Joanna had a Dali poster much like the one I've included below. We must have looked at that poster hundreds of times over the course of a year. We even had a list that we kept of the different images we found in the poster. We would look at it every night before we went to sleep. Hmmmm...maybe that would explain some of the funky dreams I had back then!
Come to think of it, Jo had the Maxfield Parrish Daybreak poster, too. I guess staring at two great works of art every day for a year had an effect on me, because I am now a lifelong fan of both artists. Thanks Jo!
